Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

New College Lanarkshire is proud of its state-of-the- art automotive training facility, combining the latest technology and equipment with excellence in training delivery. Our ‘off-the-job’ training programme in conjunction with our ‘on-the-job’ workplace training programme combines to produce a well-rounded, technically competent automotive professional at the end of the Modern Apprenticeship programme.

During the course of the programme apprentices will gain the knowledge and skills required to help them become competent technicians in the workplace.

Topics covered begin with workplace safety, engineering skills leading on to vehicle inspection and servicing, maintenance, repair and diagnosing faults around the engine, chassis and electrical systems.

Alongside the delivery at college our assessors will also visit your company to observe the practical skills of apprentices in the workplace and work closely with them towards gaining an SVQ work related qualification.
