Students' Association

The Students’ Association (SA) is the representative body for all students of New College Lanarkshire (NCL). We are the bridge between students and NCL.

We represent the student voice through regular conversations, formal and informal, with senior management, working in partnership with the college to make the student experience as best as it possibly can be.

We do this by:

Representing the student voice regarding any Policies and procedures and other big decisions that impact our student experience at the College.
Promoting the interests and wellbeing of NCL during their course of study by representing, supporting and signposting to the relevant support
Providing platforms for discussion and feedback around learning teaching and assessment such as Class Rep meetings, Curriculum and Course review, panel discussions with Senior Management, You said, We did.
The wellbeing of student by providing a calendar of wellbeing events and extracurricular activity.

Getting involved

For prospective applicants, at NCL, our Class Representatives play a crucial role in the advancement and progress of our institution. Every academic year, a class member is selected to take on this responsibility.

As a Class Rep, you become the spokesperson for your fellow students, collaborating with both faculty and your peers throughout the college to address concerns and relay vital updates. To be an effective Class Rep, you should possess motivation, discretion, strong communication abilities, and reliability. Building connections and setting a positive example within your peer group is essential, involving yourself in college activities and encouraging others to explore their personal interests using college resources.

Furthermore, taking on the role of a Class Rep provides opportunities for training courses and an experience that involves added responsibility, allowing you to develop a wide range of essential skills that would greatly enhance your CV.
