This three-year degree course enables you to study a university-validated qualification in a vibrant and innovative college environment based at our Coatbridge Campus.

Successful completion of Level 6 in Dental Nursing, or two Highers at Grade C or above, one of which should be English.

Your place on the course will also be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check in the form of an Enhanced PVG organised and paid for by the college.

Learn

Year 1- Certificate of Higher Education in Dental Nursing   

You will develop knowledge and skills related to the role of a dental nurse. This includes dental anatomy and physiology, infection control procedures, dental materials, radiography, and patient care techniques. You will also be required to complete supervised clinical placements to gain practical experience in a dental practice setting. Following successful completion of year 1 you will be qualified as a dental nurse and must register with the General Dental Council.   
 
Year 2- Diploma of Higher Education in Dental Nursing   

You will develop knowledge and skills as you undertake the following modules:  

• Phlebotomy Supporting Complex Oral Care  
• Artificial Intelligence for Dental Nurses
• Computer Aided Design for Dental Nurses  
• Clinical Photography
• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
• Practice Management 

Supervised clinical placement will continue to develop practical experience in a dental practice setting.  
 
Year 3- BSc in Dental Nursing

You will develop knowledge and skills as you undertake the following modules:  

• Additional Dental Nursing Skills
• Research Skills for Dental Nurses 
• Health Promotion
• Leadership in Dental Practice
• Technologies in Dentistry 
• Professional Practice Development

Supervised clinical placement will continue to develop practical experience in a dental practice setting.
