Overview

This course provides an opportunity for students who are returning to education to obtain the university entrance qualifications required for Social Work, Social Sciences/Humanities and Learning Disability Nursing. Most subjects will be taught and assessed throughout the year, however, Applied Mathematics is subject to a final exam. A combination of workbooks, practical activities, and written assessments are used to assess the level of knowledge and understanding.  

 

 

 

Entry

 Entry criteria for this course includes:

  • Applicants must be out of formal education for at least five years before the commencement of the course. 
  • In addition, you should have relevant formal and or informal care experience and a desire to pursue your chosen vocational path at degree or HNC level.
  • Applicants should submit a personal statement of no more than 500 words including the following:

Demonstrate your knowledge of the role of a Social Worker

Identify two challenges facing the social care sector

Discuss what you know about the Social Work Degree programme

Demonstrate why you are suitable for a place on the course.

  • If your Application meets the criteria, you may be invited to an Information Session.'

You will be in college for four full days, the college days starts at 9am and finishes at 4pm.
