NQ Certificate of Preparation for Police Examination and Recruitment (COPPER)
Overview
The COPPER course prepares candidates for the opportunity to apply for a range of services, in particular, Police Scotland. It provides candidates with an overview of the Police entrance examination, fitness test and interview process. It also includes opportunities to develop core skills.
Please note that the fitness element of the programme is delivered at Broadwood Stadium. You will be assessed on an ongoing basis using practical assessments, assignments and case studies.
Entry
While the course is open to all applicants, candidates should refer to the entrance requirements for the police service before starting the application process (for example, age requirements). Police Scotland entrance requirements can be viewed here.
Entry is competitive and applications are screened before invitation to interview.
Entry requirements are:
- minimum of two National 5 qualifications
- and completion of a detailed personal statement
Applicants who are unsuccessful may wish to consider our January Start programme 'NQ Introduction to Police Studies'. This 18-week full time programme is often a successful alternative route into the COPPER course in the next academic year (see the college website for details).
