HND Professional Dance Performance
Overview
The HND Professional Dance Performance course is highly practical, with industry based expert teaching staff providing you with the necessary training to allow you to develop the necessary dance technique, performance and choreographic skills required for the Dance Industry. The course is designed to help you build a robust technique and prepare you for the profession as a confident and versatile dancer. This is a vocational qualification aimed at students wishing to pursue a career in a variety of dance environments.
Entry
Completion of HNC Professional Dance Performance is required to access this programme. Entry is by audition only, where you will be required to take part in a dance workshop, looking at a variety of dance techniques. You will also be given a short interview. The audition process enables staff to judge a realistic assessment of your suitability for the qualification and awareness of the requirements for the course.
Higher English and/or Higher Dance are recommended but not essential.
Learn
This course focuses primarily on highly practical learning and development in a variety of dance disciplines including classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, commercial, production and performance, audition and portfolio, contextual studies and body conditioning. Students will also have the opportunity to take part in industry-led workshops and classes, as part of their training, to gain knowledge and experience of current trends in the profession. All the lecturers on the Dance courses are highly trained, with years of industry experience. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in live performances in public performance spaces.
