HND 3D Computer Animation
Overview
The HND 3D Animation course is the logical and appropriate progression from HNC 3D Animation. This course will further develop your creativity and the technical skills required to become a 3D Digital Developer/Animator, 2D Artist/Animator or Motion Graphics/CGI FX Specialist, combining Academic knowledge and practical subjects; preparing you for attaining routes into Animation Production, Games Development and the Film Industry.
As part of your course you will have the opportunity to meet Artists, Animators, and Graduates whilst working on live projects creating Graphics, Animated Shorts, Post-Production SFX and Motion Graphics.
Entry
or:
- An HNC in a relevant discipline.
- Alternatively, other relevant work experience and / or prior learning may be considered.
Please note: You will also be required to attend an interview and provide a portfolio of art work demonstrating your drawing / creative skills.
Learn
During your time on the course, you will use Contemporary-Industry Software using a PC platform, including, but not limited to:
- Autodesk 3ds Max
- Autodesk Maya
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe After Effects
- Adobe Animate
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Microsoft Office suite
You will achieve all of the skills required to entirely produce your own Animated Short, from Concept Stage to Post-Production.
Throughout your studies, you may also be given the opportunity to complete professionally-recognised Adobe Certified Associate exams and Autodesk Certified User exams as part of your course.
Students will also have the opportunity to represent New College Lanarkshire in the 3D Digital Game Art competition at the annual prestigious Skills Show, where our HND 3D Animation students have previously won both Gold and Bronze medals, beating competitors from all over the UK!
You will also have the opportunity to create your own Showreel/Portfolio, which you’ll use to find Freelance work, Studio work or entry to a Degree Programme.
