HNC Web Development and UX Design
Overview
Interested in a flexible, high-earning career in Tech Industry? This course will give you the essential knowledge and skills required to thrive in the exciting and ever-evolving digital industry sector.
You will develop coding skills in front-end and backend development as well as the design skills and the underpinning knowledge to be able to develop engaging, dynamic and interactive websites and apps.
Entry
One of the following:
- Minimum of 1 Higher at Grade C or above and enthusiasm for the subject area
- Relevant group of NQ Units at SCQF Level 5 or 6
Previous employment or practical experience may be considered in place of formal entry requirements.
Please note: Entry is also subject to a satisfactory interview, and an academic reference may be requested.
Learn
Starting with front-end web development using HTML and CSS, Digital Graphics and applying the theory of User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design, you will build the necessary skills to take a web project from conception to completion, delivering content for laptop, desktop, tablets and phones.
Building on these skills you’ll learn native JavaScript and how to develop a Content Management System (CMS) website using WordPress. Back-end web development will be introduced using PHP and MySQL to develop a working search facility on a website.
You will be given the opportunity to develop employability skills by team working and possible involvement with real client web projects.
Throughout the course you will work with current and readily available coding and design tools, be introduced to AI, collaboration tools and have access to the latest Adobe and Microsoft software.
During your time, you will also be given the opportunity to enter external competitions and take on external web development-related work.
