HNC Acting and Performance
Overview
The HNC Acting and Performance course is highly practical, with industry based expert teaching staff providing you with the necessary training to develop the skills and versatility needed to meet the vocal, physical and artistic demands placed upon a modern working performer.
Entry
Entry to the HNC Acting and Performance course is by audition only. This will enable staff to judge a realistic assessment of your suitability for the qualification and requirements for the course. You will be asked to perform two contrasting monologues to a panel, there will a short interview and you may be asked to take part in a workshop. Higher English and/or Higher Drama are recommended but not essential. Previous performance experience is preferred but not essential to access this programme and applications are welcome from candidates of all levels.
Learn
The HNC Acting and Performance course focuses primarily on the practical and theoretical skills of a modern performer through classes and workshops, which include acting, voice, movement, devising theatre, acting for camera, text and performance and methods and practitioners. Students will be given the chance to take part in industry-led workshops and classes, as part of their training, to gain knowledge and experience of current trends in the profession. All the lecturers on the acting courses are highly trained, with years of industry experience. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in public theatre performances. Staff at New College Lanarkshire are fully trained in the Estill Voice Training method, with 2 full-time Estill Master Trainers working on campus. Students will learn effective ways to use their voice for performance through detailed classwork and exercises.
