Overview

This course is delivered online, in partnership with New College Lanarkshire and University of the West of Scotland.

This SCQF Level 8 module will provide students with research-informed knowledge. The course covers mental disorder and the law; co-morbidity; static and dynamic risk factors & risk assessment and risk management. In addition, it will include treatments and interventions, for example, psychological interventions, formulation, coping skills and problem solving & supporting vulnerable adults and the legal framework.

The course team consists of practitioners and academics that each have considerable experience of working within forensic contexts in Scotland. Successful completion will allow entrance to the MSc Forensic Mental Health at UWS. 

Entry

Those in employment with a professional qualification at HNC level or above, or who have at least two Highers. 

Learn

Learners will understand the role of forensic mental health services and the impact theses services have on individuals with a range of mental health disorders or health conditions.
