Fast-Track to HNC/D Social Sciences
Overview
This 18-week January Start programme offers the opportunity for fast-track progression to either HNC Social Sciences or HND Social Sciences Year 1 in August 2025 at the Cumbernauld campus (there is also the potential possibility for progression to other campuses, by negotiation).
Entry
Applicants must have already achieved at least one Higher pass (at 'C' or above) or a significant number of Level 6 unit passes.
SQA qualifications in English and/or a Social Sciences subject (such as History, Modern Studies, Geography, RMPS, Psychology, Philosophy or Sociology) would be advantageous.
Places are limited and recruitment is by open competition. Please add a comprehensive personal statement to support your application.
Note that we are also offering an 'NQ Introduction to Social Sciences' January Start programme if your current qualifications are below Level 6.
Learn
The 'Fast-Track to HNC/D Social Sciences' course will run three days per week (Monday, Tuesday and Friday).
Units will cover:
*Criminology: Nature & Extent of Crime (Level 6)
*History: European and World (Level 6)
*Introduction to Analysing Criminal Behaviour (college study unit)
*Literature 1 (Level 6)
*Psychology: Social Behaviour (Level 6)
*Criminology: Forensic Psychology (Level 6)
*Psychology: Individual Behaviour (Level 6)
