Dental Nursing - Level 6
Overview
This course is for you if you want to invest in dental nursing as a career choice but do not have the entry qualifications to study the HNC Dental Nursing. The course covers a broad range of routine dental subjects which have been purposefully written to develop the skills and expertise of a student dental nurse whilst affording opportunities to articulate onto higher level dental nursing programmes.
You will be taught in a state of the art dental facility by a dental team who are current practitioners.
Entry
Communications at Level 4 or National 5 English at C grade or above, and an additional National 5 at C or above, or successful completion of the Level 5 in Dental Nursing at SCQF Level 5. Participation at an information session, skills assessment and interview forms part of the selection criteria.
Your place on the course will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check in the form of an enhanced PVG. You will be required to be immunised in line with Occupational Health's recommendation.

- Charting the Dentition and Recording Periodontal Health
- Cores skills: Communication, ICT and Numeracy
The course also involves a placement within a dental environment where you will be supported by a New College Lanarkshire (NCL) dental work based assessor who will support you in placement and guide and observe the on the job skills you develop.
