Overview
This City & Guilds Level 1 Brickwork course is perfect for those looking to build essential skills in bricklaying. It provides industry-recognised qualifications and certificates to help you take the next step towards a Construction Apprenticeship or a long-term, rewarding career in the industry.
This course is ideal for students who are not yet ready for the City & Guilds Level 2 course or who have little or no background in the construction industry. It offers a solid foundation to help you gain the skills and confidence needed to progress in your career.
Entry
This is a highly sought-after course and is seen as a progression from the Pre-apprentice suite of courses at level 1.
Direct applications can be made.
Direct applicants who are not a current student must be 18 years old by the end of September 2025 to commence this course and have at least one of the following:
- National 5 qualification
- Design & Manufacture
- Graphic Communication
- Practical Metalworking
- Practical Woodworking
OR
Level 1 City and Guilds (Pre-Apprentice suite) Construction.
OR
2 years proven industry or relevant employment history.
There is no age restriction for progressing Students from current City and Guilds or Foundation Apprentice (Schools) groups because of the safety training already established.
Current Students are advised to consult their lecturer at the time of application to discuss.
Candidate’s specific course suitability will be decided through a thorough interview process, which may include an aptitude assessment. Preference will be given to those who can display a genuine desire to work in the construction industry.
