Overview
Beauty, Make-up and Nail Services is an opportunity for excellent, exciting learning in Beauty Therapy, Make-up and Nail skills. This course provides the qualifications you need to gain a role within the Beauty Industry, or entry to higher-level courses. You will learn and be skilled in a wide range of contemporary and traditional beauty services including the face, body, nails and make-up techniques. Start your journey into the World of Beauty! Entry
Minimum entry requirements:
- 3 National 4 Awards or 3 Standard Grades at Grade 4 or above (English preferred)
or
- Successful completion of Level 4 Beauty Care or NPA equivalent.
Excellent communication skills and an enthusiasm for this subject is essential.
Please note you must be age 16 by 30th September. This is due to health and safety requirements. You will be invited for a competitive interview where you will get the opportunity to find out more about the course and tell us why you are interested in this subject area.
Learn
Learning is achieved in many exciting ways:
This course is delivered using a blended learning approach. Theory elements are provided face to face, via online training lessons and demonstration videos. This combined with Moodle the College virtual learning environment (VLE) hosting course learning materials and activities.
Your course will involve demonstrations, lectures, group work, role-play, portfolio building, guest speakers. This is accompanied with the hands-on practical experience based at our fully equipped salons to help our learners practice their skills.
You will be required to participate in performing and receiving all the services that you are being trained in, this participation is mandatory. You will perform assessments on clients.
This involves classroom training and demonstrations and hands-on practical sessions guided by our highly experienced educators.
Units undertaken may include the following:
- Follow health & safety in the salon
- Provide self-tanning services- Spray and Manual Tanning
- Provide facial skin care
- Provide head massage
- Remove hair using waxing techniques
- Provide manicure treatments
- Provide pedicure treatments
- Provide make-up
- Provide eyebrow and eyelash treatments
- Provide artificial gel nails
- Lash Lift
- Promote products and services
