Access to Music: Rock and Pop
Overview
Our tailor made Access to Music: Rock and Pop performance course will provide students with the practical training and theoretical music knowledge they need to succeed in this demanding industry whilst offering the opportunity of using industry-standard hardware and software to develop the skills required for a career within the exhilarating world of Music. Instruments considered are, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Saxophone, Vocals and Piano/Keyboard.
This access course will introduce you to a wide range of skills in preparation for further study in the musical field. Focusing on practical musicianship, you will be introduced to music performance and songwriting skills whilst acquiring knowledge of making a career in the music industry.
Entry
Previous musical experience is essential. The following instruments we audition are Guitar, Bass Guitar, Keyboard, Drum Kit, Saxophone and Voice.

The music industry is highly competitive, but with the right learning and education it’s possible to get ahead of the competition.
This access course will introduce you to the essential practical and theoretical skills necessary to work within the music industry. Choosing to study with us will offer an enriching experience in both the academic and technical pursuits of music. From music theory and history to performance and composition, the course will offer a diverse range of subjects from which to study.
You will have the opportunity to receive one-on-one lessons on an instrument chosen from the following options: Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Saxophone, Vocals and Piano/Keyboard from professionals who are still active within the music industry. Performance skills are also developed within weekly performance classes and through frequent performance opportunities at venues across North Lanarkshire. You will also gain valuable ensemble experience by participating in groups and bands.
This course will also introduce you to music theory and history classes that will deepen your understanding of style and musicianship as it applies to your chosen speciality and beyond. Further classes in Live Events, Songwriting, and Music Business Skills equip you for both the performance and business aspects of the music profession.
